Hypertonic muscles, also known as muscle hypertonicity or muscle tension, refer to muscles that are excessively contracted or tight, even when they are at rest. This condition can lead to discomfort, pain, limited range of motion, and postural imbalances. Neurosoma Therapy can play a significant role in relieving hypertonic muscles by addressing their underlying causes.

Causes of Hypertonic Muscles

Stress

Psychological stress, anxiety, and emotional tension can contribute to muscle hypertonicity. When we are under stress, our bodies tend to hold tension in the muscles, leading to increased muscle tone and tightness.

Poor Posture

Maintaining incorrect posture for extended periods, whether during work, sitting, or sleeping, can strain certain muscles and lead to hypertonicity. Poor ergonomics and repetitive movements can also contribute to muscle tension.

Overuse and Repetitive Movements

Engaging in activities that require repetitive movements or overuse of certain muscle groups can lead to hypertonic muscles. This can occur in athletes, musicians, manual laborers, or individuals involved in occupations that involve repetitive tasks.

Injury and Trauma

Muscles can become hypertonic as result of injury or trauma. The body will eventually  numb the area  affected but the muscle will remain in a hypertonic state (which will lead to other issues) if not addressed properly.
